‘Stars of Africa’ set to dazzle at the 2019 Vodacom Durban July

It might be winter in Durban, but socialites, celebrities, politicians and fashionistas everywhere are getting ready to bring the heat at Africa’s greatest horse racing event, this upcoming weekend. The event is predicted to attract over 55 000 attendants and generate over R200 million, providing a much-needed financial boost to the local economy.
This year’s theme, “Stars of Africa“, has trend-setters inspired, following the Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show held at Gateway Theatre of Shopping on Saturday, June 29. The annual event showcased the pieces of nine different designers, each of which approached the theme with their own creative flair. For those that missed the pageantry, the hand-picked garments will be featured at the Lakes Lifestyle Village Action Stage after 2pm on the day of the Durban July.
The topic of fashion aside – all eyes will be on Hawwam, deemed one of the favourites at the pre-Vodacom Durban July Gallops, held at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse. This yearly occasion took place in the icy, early morning hours of Thursday, June 27. Nevertheless, this crowd-pleasing event drew out hundreds of horse racing fanatics who gathered to scrutinize this year’s runners.
