Armed Response

A successful joint dawn operation between Hillcrest SAPS and Blue Security’s Highway Tactical Team, early on Thursday morning netted excellent results in the fight against crime. “The combined units were able to apprehend five suspects wanted for numerous housebreakings in the Crestholme and Waterfall area. Multiple stolen items were also recovered,” Blue Security’s Highway Tactical Ambassador said.
“The suspects have been charged and detained at Hillcrest SAPS pending further investigations,” he said.
“The operation was a great success and yet again highlights the excellent teamwork and coordination between Hillcrest SAPS and Blue Security’s Highway Tactical Team,” he said.
More suspects were arrested, and crimes nipped in the bud, in two other unrelated incidents in Farningham Ridge and Pinetown in the early hours of Thursday morning.
In the first incident, a patrolling Blue Security officer was able to interrupt a suspected vehicle theft in progress in Farningham Ridge.
“As he approached the scene he noticed an unknown number of suspects interfering with a light delivery vehicle in the middle of the road. The doors of the truck were wide open,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
“When the suspects saw the reaction officer they jumped into another car and sped away,” he said.
“On noticing a nearby property with its driveway gate derailed, the officer woke up the resident who confirmed that he was the owner of the vehicle which had been removed from the yard,” he said.
Pinetown SAPS attended the scene, a case has been opened and investigations are continuing.
“In the second incident a suspect was apprehended in Pinetown at around 5.30am after Blue Security reaction officers responded to a call of an intruder on a property,” Mathios said.
“As the units arrived a suspect emerged from the property and tried to run away. The officers gave chase and were successful in apprehending the suspect,” Mathios said.
“The resident had alerted the control centre after hearing a noise outside and seeing two intruders in the yard. Unfortunately, the second suspect got away,” he said.
“An all-clear was given after a check of the property had been completed. Nothing was stolen or damaged,” he said.
