Merebank Shooting: Armed Gang Opens Fire on Unsuspecting Resident

A Merebank, Durban motorist narrowly escaped injury during a shooting on Friday evening when a gang of about four armed suspects opened fire.
“The incident occurred as the victim arrived home and pulled into his garage at around 6pm,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
“As he parked the car the armed suspects drove up and fired five shots into his vehicle,” Mathios said.
“The victim managed to run into the house to join his family in the lounge and was fortunate to escape injury. Blue Security received the panic activation of the shooting via a concerned neighbour nearby and responded immediately,” he said.
“The suspects fled without taking anything. Wentworth SAPS attended the scene and investigations are continuing,” he said.
In a separate incident in Amanzimtoti a group of three armed suspects arrived at a home in Kingsburgh on Saturday and fired shots outside.
“Two of the suspects drove off in the getaway vehicle while a third suspect fled on foot and disappeared into nearby bush,” Mathios said.
“Five cartridges and two live rounds of ammunition were recovered at the scene. Luckily the residents inside were not hurt. Investigations are continuing,” he said.
