Armed Response

Armed robbers held up a Westville restaurant manager and owner on Sunday.
Blue Security media and community liaison officer Andreas Mathios said three suspects had approached the restaurant manager under the guise of enquiring about opening hours on Sunday mornings.
“One of the suspects pulled out a knife and another produced a firearm and ordered the manager to be quiet. They forced her into the restaurant office where the owner was busy working on his laptop,” he said.
“The suspects demanded keys to the safe and removed an undisclosed sum of cash, cellphones and jewellery before fleeing in the restaurant owner’s car, which was fitted with a tracker and was later recovered in Claremont. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
Westville SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
