Armed robber pounces on unsuspecting sleeping truck driver.

A truck driver asleep on his back seat was horrifically awoken by an armed robber entering the vehicle.
Two drivers had stopped to check the tyres and load close to the Mooi River Toll Plaza last week Tuesday morning. An anonymous source with knowledge of the incident revealed that, “While one of the drivers was outside, the other was inside the truck sleeping.”
While the one driver was sleeping, the truck door opened and the suspect quickly launched himself into the van armed with a knife. The robber immediately started scrimmaging in the front part of the van and ended up stealing the GPS and some of the drivers personal items.
The now fully awakened truck driver kicked off his blanket while trying to block the criminal from further entering the van.
In a last attempt to fight the criminal out of the vehicle, the truck driver moved the blanket and reached for the cooler box in front of him to hit the armed robber.
According to KZN police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane the suspects fled the scene when the driver who was outside the vehicle shouted to a nearby traffic police post for assistance.
”A case of theft out of a motor vehicle was opened at the Mooi River police station,” said Zwane.
