Armed Response

Armed robbers held up staff at a business premises in Inanda Road in Sea Cow Lake on Friday night.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said four robbers armed with firearms had entered the premises at 8.46pm and held up the staff. “The gang fled with an undisclosed sum of cash in a white Nissan Almera. There were no injuries reported,” he said.
Greenwood Park SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
Jackson urged business owners in the area to be vigilant and to report any loiterers or suspicious vehicles parked near their premises. “Gangs often focus on certain areas and then move on when they realise that residents and business owners are on high alert, so it’s important to report any suspicious activity to your security company and to the police for investigation,” he said.
“This would include vehicles with suspicious occupants seen regularly cruising the area without any legitimate business reason or individuals ringing gate bells to stake out the risks of a particular property.”
Jackson advised business owners to ensure their alarm systems and panic buttons were in good working order and to remember to arm the system before closing up for the day.
“It’s also worth considering installing external beams and gate-crashing kits on all main gates as derailing gates remains a common modus operandi of organised syndicates,” he said.
