Armed robbers target Springfield Park

Armed robbers held up staff at a business in Springfield Park on Monday morning.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a gang of five robbers held up staff at 7.53am just ten minutes after the Palmfield Road business opened its doors. “One of the men held up the receptionist at gunpoint while the other four robbers loaded nine computers into their silver VW Polo,” he said.
“The robbers also took the business CCTV camera recorder in an attempt to cover their tracks. The police were immediately alerted to the robbery and gave chase but it is unclear at this stage whether any arrests have been made,” he said. Jackson urged business owners and staff to be vigilant especially when opening up and closing their doors.
“Armed robbers often strike in the early morning and evening when staff are busy unlocking or locking up the premises. Before you lock up always survey your surroundings and make sure that there are no suspicious individuals or vehicles hanging around,” he said.
Jackson advised business owners to also be especially careful over month end periods when making cash deposits and withdrawals as criminals were most active at this time of the month.
