Armed robbery in Durban North Area

A La Lucia man was lucky to escape a home invasion and robbery with minor injuries after a gang of masked robbers derailed the driveway gate, burst into his home and held him up at gunpoint yesterday afternoon.
Blue Security Managing Director Henk Van Bemmelen said the resident had opened his front door and walked into the kitchen when the four armed men suddenly burst in and held him up, demanding cash and safe keys. The robbery occurred at 15.53 yesterday.
“The armed robbers assaulted the resident, hitting him on his head and kicking him, when he refused to give in to their demands. The robbers then ransacked the property in search of valuables,” he said. Jackson said the robbers locked the resident in the main bedroom and fled the scene with keys, wallets, cellphones, televisions, a camera, computer and jewellery.
“Netcare 911 Paramedics treated the resident at the scene,” he said.
Van Bemmelen said the company’s mobile panic app, when installed on your smartphone, pinpoints your precise location the moment you activate it in an emergency. “Our state-of-the-art control centre receives the signal and makes contact with you to determine the type of emergency. We can then activate a range of emergency responses, from our own armed response officers in our operational areas, to ambulance services, and the SAPS .”
The armed robbery was reported to the Durban North SAPS who attended the scene of the crime.
