Blue Security received information from a shop owner in Malvern that two occupants travelling in a silver Datsun Go had allegedly brandished a firearm and robbed an individual.
A Blue Security Area Manager immediately pursued the vehicle and intercepted it near Main Road before directing the occupants to a nearby filling station.
The two suspects produced what was identified as a gas gun and claimed that the incident had been a dispute over an Uber fare. They denied taking any bank cards.
SAPS subsequently confirmed that the vehicle had been flagged as wanted in connection with an armed robbery in the Bellair area.
The vehicle was later intercepted again by a Blue Security Tactical member on Main Road near Coronation Road. The two suspects were detained and handed over to Malvern SAPS.
During the investigation, the following items were recovered:
1 x Gas gun
1 x SAPS jacket
1 x Balaclava
1 x Bag containing suspected cannabis
Further checks linked the vehicle and suspects to a separate case involving alleged impersonation of SAPS in Chatsworth. The suspects were subsequently taken to Chatsworth SAPS, where they were detained with assistance from the Chatsworth Tracing Team. A case number was obtained for further investigation.
Outcome: Two suspects were detained following the vehicle interception and were linked to multiple reported incidents. Recovered items and the suspects were handed over to SAPS for further investigation.
