Armed Response

Blue Security armed response officer Triple M and his CCPO partner swooped on a suspect who was reported for stealing a drum from a property in Athlone Park this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the team had received a radio report that the suspect had been seen walking towards Isipingo near Twini hill. The incident was reported at around 10.15am.
“We responded to the scene and spotted the suspect walking near the railway line towards Isipingo. We arrested him and handed him over to the Amanzimtoti police for allegedly stealing the drum from a residential property in Athlone Park,” Mathios said.
Mathios said the officers were awaiting the resident’s arrival at the police station to open a case of theft against the suspect. “We commend the officers for their swift response to the scene, proving once again that by working together with the community we can make a strong stand against crime. We urge residents to also work closely with us and the police by laying charges against suspects when they are arrested as this will hopefully deter them from committing more serious crimes down the line,” he said.
This arrest follows a week of successes from our Tactical Team in Amanzimtoti.
