Tactical team tracks and arrests wanted Umhlanga housebreaker

A Blue Security special operation in Umhlanga led to the arrest of an alleged wanted Umhlanga housebreaker in the early hours of this morning.
Blue Security tactical ambassador Darrel Moodley said the suspect was allegedly wanted by the police in connection with at least 13 housebreaking cases in area.
Moodley said the firms’s tactical team was patrolling the Umhlanga area in the vicinity of Stanley Grace Crescent when tactical officer, Micheon Makathini, spotted the suspect attempting to gain entry into a property. The arrest took place at around 2.20am.
“Micheon spotted the suspect attempting to jump into a property and we immediately approached him. He put up a fight and attempted to resist arrest but we managed to apprehend him and handed him over to members of the Durban North SAPS who attended the scene of the crime,” Moodley said.
Hilton Maclarty, a local resident and community representative for Blue Security’s Umhlanga Rocks Virtual Estate project commended the tactical team for the arrest.
“This arrest is a big win for our crime fighting efforts in the Umhlanga area. This suspect has plagued the community for quite some time and it has been quite a task tracking him and arresting him,” he said.
“We have worked tireless together as community members with the tactical team and the police to bring this suspect to book. We will by continue to work together to send the message to criminals that crime will not be tolerated in our neighbourhood,” he said.
