A family attacked, a frightened dog escapes, an officer saves the day.

During a home invasion two weeks ago, a family and their dog Hunter were violently attacked.

Hunter, along with his owners Chloe and Bren, were kicked and beaten during a traumatising robbery. Hunter fled the property when the robbers opened the driveway gate to drive away in Chloe’s car.

Hunter was attacked, hit and hurt by the criminals while attempting to protect his family.

The robbers planned to steal the vehicle that was parked at the property after they attacked the residents. While the thieves were opening the gate to drive the car out of the premises, Hunter bolted out of the driveway and ran down the street to escape and find someone who would be able to assist his traumatised family.

Chloe and Bren were adamant on finding Hunter regardless of the dangerous situation that had just occurred at their home. They ran out of the front gates of the house into the streets to try and find their beloved four-legged family member.

Meanwhile, Blue Security armed response officer Simthembile Feleba had just received word of a panic button that was pressed during a home invasion and needed immediate response. The officer adjusted his route to respond to the activated alarm.

Then, at a stop sign a few hundred metres before the property that had pressed their panic button for help, officer Simthembile spotted a dog hiding underneath a nearby bridge. While the officer was stopped at the stop street, the dog sprinted towards his vehicle. He opened his window and without hesitation the dog leaped into the van. The officer remained calm and kept the dog in the van while he continued his journey to the home invasion.

When officer Simthembile arrived at the property, Hunter instantaneously jumped out of the vehicle.  The resident’s of the property were nowhere to be found. Unbeknownst to officer Simthembile, the residents were out in the streets searching for their dog that had run away during the home invasion. The officer waited at the property until the owners returned back to their house.

After Chloe and Bren had been searching for Hunter for many moments with little success, the upsetting decision was made to head back to their home without their furry friend.

Upon their return, to their surprise, there was Hunter waiting with officer Simthembile for Chloe and Bren to return home. A special thank you was given to our officer for saving their dog.

Given the reputation that Pitbull’s have been tainted with over the years, Hunter’s owners were extremely grateful for the fact that the officer remained calm when Hunter leaped into his van.

‘He did exactly what he was supposed to do,’ said Chloe. Officer Simthembile was the hero.

We wish this family a speedy recovery.
