AUSSIE: The Australian Circus Spectacular

AUSSIE: The Australian Circus Spectacular - Blue loves DurbanNothing gets us reminiscing quite like thinking back to the days of drive-ins, fun fairs and when the circus rolled into town. It meant popcorn, chewing gum, boerewors en biltong, ice cream, fireballs and Jumping Jacks all around, when we asked daddy to please buy slap chips and chicken pie, coca-cola, hullahoops en nog Niknaks! AUSSIE: The Australian Circus Spectacular is in Durban, and it’s making us feel all sorts of nostalgic excitement.

Sun International teamed up with the makers of the acclaimed Great Moscow Circus and Great Euro Circus to bring AUSSIE: The Australian Circus Spectacular to South Africa. AUSSIE is a modern, circus spectacular that represents the daring, inventive, and cheeky nature of the Australian spirit. This is the first time that AUSSIE will visit foreign soil. The show blends traditional acrobatic cirque performances in the air and on the ground, hilarious slapstick comedy, and modern, extreme stunts to dazzle and amaze audiences.

Highlights of the show include one of the world’s few surviving human cannonball acts, that is performed by expert stuntman Luiz Daza, who literally soars over spectators. Audiences will also marvel at the dizzying Globe of Death act, which features up to five motorbike riders circling a daring dancer before the sphere splits in half. Freestyle motor cross stunts are sure to thrill, during which riders reach gut wrenching heights beneath the circus Big Top.

Between these breathtaking and death-defying stunts, a troupe of talented and equally daring Aussies will perform amazing feats of human endurance, skill and strength. From the Queen of the Silks, Kiarnna; vaudevillian performer and slapstick comedian, Val De Fun; the illusion of the salsa-dancing quick-change act, to the duo pole performance by Edison and Giselle, spectators will be mesmerized from start to finish.

AUSSIE will be performed at Crawford College from the 17th of March until the 3rd of April 2016. Check out their Facebook page for photos and more information, or head to Computicket for ticket prices and to book your seats.
