ECR The Big Favour: Blue’s charitable trust helps Open Door.

open-doorThe Open Door crisis centre is an organization that supports and councils men and women as well as children who are victimized to crimes such as domestic violence and human trafficking.

The centre was the first shelter in Kwa-Zulu Natal to be accredited to take in victims of trafficking in order to support, council and protect them. Open Door was started over 20 years ago and since their doors were opened, the centre has managed to assist over 400 thousand victims with their social services, psycho-social services and support systems.

Break-ins are a reoccurring problem at the centre with criminals entering through the building’s roof and floor.

After hearing about the most recent break in at Open Door we found out that the toiletries of the victims in the building were stolen. Blue Security very quickly turned to the funds in our Blue Angel’s charitable trust and took the initiative to replace each and every toiletry item that was taken.

The Blue Angel’s trust is proudly supported by our clients as well as our staff members by making a small contribution to the trust on a monthly basis.

But, it wasn’t enough to just replace the items that were stolen. Blue Security further offered to upgrade the centre’s existing infrastructure by adding a smart alarm system to the building as well as supplying Open Door with complimentary monitoring and armed response services to ensure that all members of the organization feel safer and more secure on the premises.
