Botha’s Hill robbers burned by chilli pepper gas

Robbers were thwarted by a chilli pepper gas alarm during an attempted robbery at a business premises in Botha’s Hill last week.

The owner received a tip-off that burglars would come back as soon as his insurance company replaced all the equipment stolen at a previous robbery. The business then took extra precaution and installed the chilli pepper gas alarm system in their shop.

In the early hours of Thursday morning three men arrived at the store entrance. Two wore balaclavas and one of the men wore a cap. They attempted to cut through the chain on the front door with bolt cutters but were unsuccessful. The robbers then used the bolt cutters to smash their way through the glass front door.

As soon as the robbers gain entry to the premises they get blasted with chilli powder gas. They attempt to steal the computer equipment again but they are choking on chilli powder gas. Eventually they give up, and to the owner’s relieve escape with nothing.
