Armed Response

A burglary suspect was successfully apprehended when cornered on a rooftop in Sydenham in the early hours morning.
“Blue Security was alerted to suspicious activity at a business in the Sydenham area early, on Tuesday morning,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, “on arrival one of our armed response officers was informed by a staff member that an unknown number of suspects had broken into the fast-food business.
As the second unit arrived he spotted a man up on the roof of the building. The two officers were able to successfully apprehend the man, bring him down off the roof and detain him.
The suspect was found with an iPad in his possession, which was later positively identified as belonging to a staff member of the establishment.
“Further investigations revealed that the suspect had damaged the electric fence, to climb up onto the top of the building, as well as the roof and ceiling boards leading to the change-room area in order to gain access into the premises,” he said.
The office area had been ransacked and the computers and screens had been disconnected.
The suspect was handed over to Sydenham SAPS for further processing.
