Armed Response

Do you know how easy it is to break into a garage from an automated garage door? I didn’t until I watched this video of Clint Emerson, retired US Navy seal, demonstrating exactly how it’s done and what you can do to avoid it from happening to you.
When I saw this video pop up on my YouTube homepage with the title, “Easiest way to break into your home” it immediately grabbed my attention.
My mind jumped to the question, “How can people prevent this from happening to them?”
After finishing the video, I wanted to get the full scope of what Emerson was talking about. This curiosity caused me to venture into my garage to take a look at the garage door, as it too runs off of an automated system.
In this video, he demonstrates cutting the entire piece of string attached to the garage in order to get rid of the release cable completely.
But, what happens if the power at your house goes out, your car is in the garage and you need to take the kids to school or leave the house? You won’t be able to pop your garage door open.
Keeping this in mind, I would think that if you were to simply cut the little knob off the bottom of the release cable, it would eliminate the bent wire from being able to attach itself to the groove that the knob creates.
As Emerson mentions, criminals can make use of a locksmith tool or a wire hanger in order to guide the lock from the inside of the garage door.
However, if you break it down to concept value, any form of long sturdy wire that can still be bent can be used to defeat the garage door. Moreover, the bendable wire would be a cheap tool for a criminal to make use of.
The big issue with criminals breaking into a garage is that a lot of people’s garage doors have an inter-leading door that takes you through to the main house and I can say, with confidence, that every person reading this article right now does everything they can to keep criminals out of their houses.
Watch this video to see just how easily the automated garage door can be bypassed.
