Ceiling Hideout Foiled: Tactical Team Apprehends Burglary Suspect

A Blue Security response member operating in the Greyville area identified that a business premises on Mathews Meyiwa Road had been burgled. Entry had been gained by suspects after forcing open a toilet burglar guard. The responding officer immediately secured the entry point and requested backup.

Coordinated Tactical Response   

Shortly thereafter, Tactical units, area management, response management, and additional area vehicles arrived on scene. The premises was secured, and members conducted a systematic search of the building. During the inspection, scuff marks were observed on a wall directly below the ceiling trap door, indicating the possibility that the suspect was still inside the property.

Tactical members accessed the ceiling space to investigate further. The suspect was located attempting to conceal himself under insulation material. He was safely removed, secured, and placed under arrest without further incident.

Handover and Investigation    

The apprehended suspect was subsequently handed over to members of Durban Central SAPS for further investigation and processing.
