Successful Chatsworth community communications lead to arrest

Successful Chatsworth community communications lead to arrestStrong teamwork from a Chatsworth community on social media and a vigilant Blue Security armed response officer led to the arrest of an alleged thief who was fence hopping in Hillcrest Avenue in Chatsworth yesterday.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said residents had reported a description of the suspect on a Silverglen community crime WhatsApp group and alerted the company. A vigilant armed response officer spotted the suspect walking in the neighbourhood at around 6.30pm.
“The suspect had allegedly jumped into a property earlier in the day and attempted to break in, but he fled when he noticed the resident was at home. He allegedly stole taps from the property and fled the scene, jumping over a wall to make his escape,” Mathios said. “Residents sent an alert to their community WhatsApp group and alerted us to the incident. Our officer who was patrolling the neighbourhood, spotted the suspect walking along the road and arrested him.”
The suspect was handed over to Bayview SAPS at the scene.
