Armed criminals gag and rob Chatsworth man at gunpoint

gunpoint-gagArmed criminals proceeded to gag and rob a Chatsworth man of a laptop and other valuables at gunpoint on Friday morning.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said two armed suspects entered the outbuilding on the property and held up the 37-year-old resident at around 4.21am.

“Two suspects, armed with firearms, gained entry onto the premises via the back fence and forced open the front door of the outbuilding. The criminals silenced the victim’s screams for help by using a towel to gag the man. The suspects robbed him of a television, a laptop and a cellphone. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.

Bayview SAPS attended the scene of the crime.

Further to this, in a separate incident in Westville North on the same day, a Blue Security armed response officer arrested a suspect after he allegedly cut an electrical cable on a street light.

“A domestic worker pressed a panic alarm and alerted us to the presence of a suspect outside the main gate of the property where he allegedly cut the electrical cable of a street light,” Mathios said.

“Our officer patrolled the area and managed to track down and arrest the suspect,” Mathios said.

Westville SAPS members attended the scene of the crime and the suspect was taken into police custody.
