Armed Response

Quick response by a Blue Security reaction unit and a coordinated effort with Metro officers resulted in the successful arrest of a housebreaking suspect in the early hours of Friday morning near Pinetown.
“The arrest followed a call out to the Moseley area near Pinetown in the early hours of the morning, when an unknown number of trespassers were reported to be stealing from a property,” said Blue Security Tactical Ambassador for Moseley and Queensburgh, Andre Engels.

“One reaction officer began patrolling the vicinity near the M7 freeway whilst two more units proceeded to the home where the trespassing had occurred,” Engels said.
“The breakthrough occurred when the reaction officer patrolling on the M7 freeway heard suspicious noises coming from the bushes alongside the road,” reported Engels.
“A unit from Metro Police was in the area and assisted in the search for the suspect. He was eventually tracked down and arrested in the bush next to the road. The suspect still had a three-metre metal sheet, screwdriver, and hammer in his possession at the time of his arrest,” Engels said.
“The man was taken into custody by Metro Police and the items were positively identified by a nearby homeowner. The suspect was taken to Pinetown SAPS for further processing,” Engels said.
This arrest is a prime example of how effective community-based dedicated vehicles are.
