Dashcam highspeed chase: Highway Tactical in action during Shongweni Shootout
We read the press releases and applaud the arrest reports, but we rarely get to witness the live scenes of our operational units in action. This dashcam footage gives us a glimpse into a day in the life of our Tactical teams – the men who on the daily put their theirs lives on the line – protecting our communities and progressing the fight against crime.
This high-paced footage, that’s sure to give your heart-rate a bolt, shows our Highway Tactical team in hot pursuit of a gang of armed robbers after spotting the vehicle in Hillcrest only a few hours after it was reported as stolen on Friday last week. As soon as the robbers realised they had been tracked down, they put pedal to the metal, dangerously weaving through traffic at high speed.
Watch from the driver’s perspective as our Tactical members navigate through traffic, following swiftly behind and trying to pull the vehicle over, before the suspects lose control and crash down an embankment in Shongweni.
