Pinetown handbag snatcher captured and arrested

An alert security guard captured and arrested a suspect who attempted to rob an employee as she arrived for work in Morgan Road at around 8 am.
“The employee had just parked her vehicle and as she jumped out and was taking her handbag off the passenger seat, a suspect accosted her and tried to grab her handbag. She screamed for help and a security guard who works on the premises responded to the scene,” Mathios said.
“When the suspect saw the security guard he dropped the bag and fled the scene on foot. The security officer gave chase, captured and arrested the suspect.”
In a separate incident, a Blue Security armed response officer captured and arrested an alleged thief in Clairwood this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said an armed response officer had arrived at the scene in Flower Road where he captured and arrested the suspect at around 7am. “The suspect had allegedly removed four truck tyres from a business premises. Our officer arrested him and handed him over to the Clairwood police,” Mathios said.
Mathios added that a vigilant armed response officer recovered a stolen truck battery after he spotted a suspect walking along Rushmere Road in Silverglen, Chatsworth at around 7.40am yesterday.
“When our officer spotted the suspect walking along a pathway in the vicinity of Rushmere Road and Silverglen Drive he drove closer to investigate and the suspect dropped the battery and fled on foot along the pathway into the bush. Our officer recovered the battery and handed it over to the Bayview SAPS,” He said.
Mathios said it was unclear where the battery had been stolen from.
