Armed Response

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said four armed robbers, posing as customers, had robbed a business in La Lucia at around 10.15am on Saturday and fled with watches. “The gang walked into the shop and forced staff and customers to lie on the floor, before smashing a glass cabinet and grabbing watches that were on display. The gang fled the scene in a white VW Golf. No injuries were reported,” Jackson said.

In Torlarge Street in New Germany, an armed suspect robbed an employee of R10 000 cash as he arrived at the premises at around 11.20am on Saturday. “The driver had just pulled up at the premises and hooted for the gate to be opened when an armed robber ambushed him and banged on his window, demanding that he open the door. The driver then asked his assistant, who was in the vehicle with him, to hand over the cash which was in the cubby hole. No injuries were reported,” he said.
Jackson said that when CCTV footage of the incident was viewed later, a white BMW was spotted parked near the premises at the time the driver arrived.
