Armed Gang Hold Upper Highway Domestic Worker at Gunpoint

A domestic worker was fortunate to escape injury during a house robbery in Memorial Park, Durban on Tuesday afternoon.
“Four armed men stormed the house while the employee was busy with household chores just after midday on Tuesday,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
“It is alleged that the suspects jumped over the driveway gate onto the property before entering the house via an unlocked security gate and door,” Mathios said. “The gang then threatened the housekeeper at gunpoint and forced her to lie down on the floor,” he said. “The men proceeded to remove a flatscreen TV before making their way to an awaiting vehicle. It was at this point that an eyewitness, who was approaching the car, was confronted by three of the suspects,” he said.
“The suspects pointed their firearm at the bystander and threatened to shoot him before they made their escape in the awaiting vehicle,” he said.
“Fortunately for the victims no shots were fired and no-one was injured during the incident. The domestic worker declined medical assistance or trauma counselling following the robbery,” he said. “Bellair SAPS attended the scene and investigations are continuing,” he said.
