A Durban North mother and her children were lucky to escape a hijacking uninjured outside a business premises in Soofie Saheeb Road this morning. Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a woman had pulled up outside the business premises just before 9.30am when three armed men hijacked her of her white Mercedes.
“The hijackers forced the woman and her children out of the car before fleeing in the vehicle. The victims were not injured during the incident ran into the business premises for assistance. The vehicle was fitted with a tracking device and the Police later managed to recover the vehicle in Westville,” Jackson said. “Crisis counsellors attended the scene to assist the victim,” he said.
Jackson said the incident had been captured on CCTV surveillance camera and the footage would be used to help the police with their investigation.
“We advise motorists to be vigilant and to be aware of their surroundings when parking their vehicles in public places. In a hijacking situation it is always safest to cooperate with the hijackers and to rather let them take the vehicle once passengers and children have safely got out,” Jackson said.
