Crimes finally caught up with wanted suspects in Durban North

Strong team work by Blue Security armed response officers and G4S Security officers led to the arrest in Riverhorse Valley North of Durban of three wanted suspects by the police for various crimes.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said a G4S security officer alerted the company to the presence of the suspects on a business property in the Riverhorse Valley business precinct at around 2pm yesterday. “Our officer responded to the scene together with a G4S security officer and found the three suspects still on the premises, where they were busy stealing copper cables using cable cutters and a hacksaw to cut the cables. The suspects had managed to jump over an electric fence to gain entry onto the property. The armed response officers arrested the suspects and recovered the copper cables at the scene,” Mathios said.
Members of the Durban North SAPS attended the scene of the crime. “Upon investigation it was found that the suspects were wanted by the police for various other crimes in the area,” Mathios said.
In a separate incident yesterday, an armed response officer disturbed a burglar and recovered stolen goods after a suspect broke into a property in Springfield Park.
Mathios said the officer had responded to an alarm activation at a business premises at around 6.45am. “The officer arrived at the scene and heard banging noising coming from inside the property. He drove to the back of the premises where he spotted a suspect jumping out of the building. The suspect saw the officer and fled into some nearby bushes, dropping the goods he had stolen from the property,” Mathios said. “The officer gave chase but the suspect managed to evade arrest. The officer recovered a set of speakers and an extension cord which the suspect had dropped as he ran away,” he said.
Mathios said that upon further investigation it emerged that the suspect had cut through roof sheeting and broken two office windows to gain entry into the building.
