In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a joint patrol between Blue Security and a vigilant member of the Neighbourhood Watch led to the successful apprehension of a suspect involved in property theft.

While patrolling along Elm Road in Moseley Park, the team noticed a suspicious individual emerging from a piece of vacant land situated between residential properties. The man was carrying two large bags and a light fitting.

When approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was swiftly stopped and secured by the patrol team. A search of the bags revealed a significant quantity of stolen infrastructure-related items — including 268 broken pieces of copper piping, seven taps, and thirteen rolls of electrical cable.

This type of property theft has become a recurring issue in the area, particularly during early morning hours, placing residents and infrastructure at ongoing risk.

The suspect, along with the recovered items, was handed over to SAPS Pinetown for further investigation and processing.
