Old woman unscathed in Overport home invasion

A 76-year-old woman was lucky to escape an Overport home invasion unharmed last night.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the woman’s grand daughter had just dropped her off at home in Brickfield Road when she was accosted by two men. The incident occurred at around 8pm.
“The men were waiting at the main entrance and when she opened the house, both suspects went inside with her. They ransacked the main bedroom and a second bedroom and fled with televisions, a decoder, a computer, a safe, jewellery, cash, linen and clothing,” Mathios said. “The men did not produce a firearm. No injuries were reported.”
Sydenham SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
In a separate incident in Overport, armed men stormed a business and robbed the staff at gunpoint on Friday evening.
