Emergency services awareness day: Meet Durban’s champions.
This Saturday, the greatest emergency services event held in Durban will be taking place. Join in on a day filled with helicopter landings, simulated hijackings and tank displays at the annual Emergency Services Awareness Day.
How often do hear little boys and girls saying, “When I grow up, I want to be a fire fighter!” or a police man or a paramedic? Your very own little one might have even mentioned it to you in the past.
Just imagine what a field day children would have at an event like this.
The day is jam packed with high pace action, helicopter landings, bomb diffusing and so much more. The Emergency Services Awareness Day will be bringing Durban real live action to expose the true dangers of the world and how the different departments deal with them.
Think of what an experience it would be to chat to Durban’s heroes while munching on some snacks and saying hello to Captain Blue (Blue Security’s mascot) when you pass him marching around the arena.
The day is hosted by the Law Enforcement Foundation. Working closely with the foundation is the South African Police Services, local security companies, neighbourhood watches and local businesses. The purpose of the Emergency Services Awareness Day is to highlight all the emergency services that sometimes go unappreciated such as the Fire and Bomb squads, Search and Rescue, Ambulance services and the Flying Squad.
The day begins at 10:00 and is filled with action. From horse patrolling and marching drills to mock hijacking and vehicle collision simulations. All services will be bringing their gadgets and machines to get the public more involved in what these champions get up to on a day-to-day basis.
The Law Enforcement Foundation is a NPO (Non-Profit Organisation) thus, depends on the community to give contributions. All profits made from the day will be put straight into the foundation’s funds for crime prevention and protection of our city.
After seeing all of this action for myself last year, I would recommend this event to anybody who asked if it would be worth attending!
