Fatal Shooting Incident Reported in Overport

A shooting incident was reported in the Overport area at the intersection of Crescent Street and East Street.
Upon arrival of emergency responders and security teams, it was established that a male victim had been shot while reportedly feeding members of the community at a nearby park. The victim was rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries en route.
It was further confirmed that one of the suspects involved in the incident sustained fatal injuries on scene.
Multiple emergency and security role players responded promptly, securing the scene and initiating investigations. Several members of the public were present at the time of the incident and witnessed the shooting.
The South African Police Service, along with Metro Police, are currently conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Inspection Reveals Stolen Copper and Tools
The officer stopped and engaged the individuals, requesting permission to inspect the backpack. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain copper pipe pieces and a hammer. The individuals were unable to provide a reasonable or lawful explanation for being in possession of these items.
