The Blue Security Command Centre received a voice note via the Overport Crime Intelligence Group regarding the discovery of a foetus inside a refuse bin on Marie Lane.
The information was immediately relayed to Blue Security Armed Response, with a member dispatched to investigate. The Armed Response Officer arrived at the scene and confirmed that the foetus showed no signs of life.
Additional Blue Security members attended the scene to assist, while the Command Centre contacted the relevant emergency services and SAPS.
According to information received, the discovery was made by a vagrant who was searching through the refuse when the foetus was found inside the bin.
SAPS from Sydenham Police Station attended the scene and subsequently stood down after attending to the matter.
