Conspicuous mattress thieves arrested in Glenwood

Two alert Blue Security armed response officers arrested two alleged mattress thieves after they spotted them carrying several mattresses through Glenwood in the early hours of this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the armed response officers had spotted the suspects walking near the corner of Clark Road and Esther Roberts Road at around 4.55am. “The officers approached the suspects and questioned them about where they had obtained the four mattresses that they were carrying. The suspects allegedly told the officers that they had taken the mattresses from a property in Manning Road,” Mathios said.
“When the officers went to the property, there was no one there. The suspects were then taken to the Umbilo police station where they were handed over to the police,” Mathios said.
In a separate arrest in New Germany, a security guard apprehended a suspect who had allegedly attempted to steal a roll of plastic piping from a business premises in Kirk Road at around 1.13am this morning. “The roll of plastic piping had been left lying outside next to the fence of the property and while the security guard was patrolling the premises he noticed the suspect trying to steal it. He arrested the suspect and handed him over to Pinetown SAPS who attended the scene of the crime,” Mathios said.
