Armed Response

Blue Security armed response officers arrested two Glenwood suspects and recovered stolen goods in Westville in separate incidents early this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said armed response officers responded to a panic alarm at a property in Esther Roberts Road in Glenwood at around 6.40am. “The security guard who works on the property told the officers that he had seen two suspects on the CCTV sruveillance cameras, attempting to break into the garage. He gave them a description of the suspects and the officers then tracked them down, arrested them and took them back to the premises,” Mathios said.
Umbilo SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
In a separate incident an armed response officer attended to the scene of a housebreaking in Langford Road in Dawncliffe, Westville at around 2.10am, where he recovered stolen goods. “The officer found a brush cutter and its box lying on the road outside the property. Upon investigation it was found that the suspect had climbed into the garage through a window that had been left open. He had removed the brush cutter but left it outside the premises when he fled the scene. The brush cutter was handed back to the resident,” Mathios said.
In Amanzimtoti a resident arrested an intruder who had gained entry onto a property in Maple Road at around 11.55am on Wednesday. “The domestic worker disturbed the suspects and they fled towards Moss Kolnik Road. The resident managed to arrest one of the suspects who our armed response officer then took to the Amanzimtoti police station for fingerprint screening before he was released on a warning,” Mathios said.
