High-Risk Escape Foiled After Intensive Bush Search in Bellair  

SAPS officers responded to an incident involving a suspect who escaped from police custody while being processed. The suspect was wanted on an active warrant of arrest dating back to 2025 and was reportedly in possession of illegal narcotics.

During processing, the suspect managed to escape from lawful custody after assaulting a police officer. The individual fled into a densely vegetated and bushy area within the Bellair policing sector, creating significant operational risks due to the difficult terrain.

Given the circumstances, immediate operational assistance was requested from the Blue Security Tactical Team, Blue Security Riot Squad, and the Blue Security K9 Unit. A coordinated search operation was swiftly implemented, with teams strategically deployed to contain the area and prevent further escape.

The suspect was located within the dense bush, resulting in a foot chase through challenging terrain. Members of the SAPS Bellair Crime Prevention Unit, together with supporting tactical teams, successfully apprehended the suspect. The suspect was secured without injuries and handed back into SAPS custody for further processing.
