A Pinetown resident escaped serious injury during a hijacking outside his home on Sunday afternoon.
“The victim had just parked his vehicle in the road at around 5.30pm when a car stopped behind him and three armed occupants got out. The suspects threatened him with firearms and robbed him of his cellphone before fleeing in the hijacked vehicle,” on of our Blue Security Tactical Ambassadors said.
“Fortunately no shots were fired in the incident although the hijacked victim did hurt his ankle when jumping over a wall to escape his attackers,” the ambassador said. No entry was gained to the property and nothing else was reported stolen. A case has been opened and SAPS Malvern attended the scene.

Sunday saw escalated criminal activity with an armed robbery reported in a semi-industrial area of New Germany, just before midnight on Sunday night.”Three suspects, one of whom was armed with a firearm, attacked and injured security guards onsite,” the spokesman said.
“The suspects then proceeded to remove and steal two wheels from a bakkie parked on the premises. Paramedics were summonsed to treat the two security guards who were hurt during the armed robbery. One guard injured his right knee while the other hurt his right arm,” the spokesman said.
A housebreaking suspect was successfully apprehended and arrested in a third incident in Illovo Beach on Sunday morning.
“The Blue Security reaction officer had responded to an alarm activation at a home in the area when he noticed that a side window was open and a flatscreen TV was resting against the outside wall,” the spokesman said. “He then observed a suspect emerging from the house who, in turn, ducked back inside when he saw the reaction officer.
Backup was called and a chase ensued after the suspect climbed out of a front window and tried to escape by running down the road,” the spokesman said. “The suspect was successfully cornered, apprehended and arrested. All stolen items were recovered but the alarm system was damaged during the housebreaking.”
