Hillary gardener stabbed and robbed during daylight mugging

A Hillary domestic worker was stabbed and robbed of his valuables in Mount Vernon Road yesterday.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the man, who works as a gardener in the suburb, was walking along the road at around 2pm when suspects mugged him. “Two suspects armed with a knife robbed the man of his wallet and cellphone. They stabbed him in the shoulder and fled the scene,” Mathios said.
Mathios said the man’s employer transported him to hospital for medical treatment.
A Malvern gardener was also assaulted and robbed during a mugging earlier this month.
Mathios advised residents to warn domestic staff to be vigilant when walking to and from work.
“Domestic staff are vulnerable to crime because criminals prey on them knowing they might be carrying cash. It’s important that pedestrians be vigilant of their surroundings, make sure they are not being followed and be ready to swiftly cross the road should any suspicious individuals approach from the front,” Mathios said.
