Armed Response

A housebreaking suspect was successfully pursued and apprehended by Blue Security on Wednesday morning in Kingsburgh.
“The arrest followed a sighting on Wednesday morning of a suspect within a complex in Middleton Road, Kingsburgh. After completing a check of the property events escalated when Blue’s armed-response officers saw the suspect running up Gordon Road, a short distance away,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.
A chase ensued with the suspect jumping the fence of a home in the area.
“Even though he was being pursued the suspect still managed to open a lounge window, remove screws on the burglar guards and pull a laptop out the window,” Mathios said.
The resident immediately activated the panic alarm on spotting the suspect and the intruder fled.
Blue Security Community Crime Prevention Units arrived to assist in the search for the theft suspect who was thought to be hiding in between the properties.
“An officer eventually caught up to the fleeing suspect and successfully apprehended him a block away in Murray Smith Road. He was taken back to the property where the laptop had been removed,” he said.
“The residents confirmed the suspect’s identity. Members of SAPS Amanzimtoti arrived and took the suspect into custody for further processing,” he said.
