Armed Response

This young lady was accosted by a Joburg mugger, armed with a blade, who snatched her handbag while she was sitting outside her sister’s driveway last week Wednesday. In a strange turn of events the brave woman ran after the attacker and claimed back what was rightfully hers before running in the opposite direction.
After catching an Uber to her sister’s house last week, a young woman sat reading a book while waiting outside the house for her sister.
A man on a motorcycle entered the scope of the home’s CCTV security system before driving on unsuspectingly.
Suddenly, the man is seen running back into the picture with his arm stretched out wielding a blade as his weapon of choice.
In his attempts to remain anonymous while committing the crime, the mugger kept his helmet on while approaching his victim.
Startled and alert, the female shut her book and it seemed as though she tried to get up to flee from the man, but the Joburg mugger was already too close.
The lady instinctively ducked to miss the blade that was journeying towards her and within an instant the perpetrator had snatched her handbag.
(TimesLIVE, 2019) said that the, “Woman decided she wouldn’t be a victim and snatched it back.”
As the mugger was running towards his getaway motorbike, it was only after a short moment of hesitation that the woman screamed and ran after the mugger in-an-attempt to retrieve her handbag.
After placing the handbag in the bike’s storage compartment, to the victim’s advantage, the rushed mugger decided against closing the back-storage compartment on the motorbike while fleeing from the scene.
As the Joburg mugger was getting the bike started and readying the engine to escape, the lady sprinted towards the man and successfully grabbed her handbag from the open compartment while the mugger rode away.
Don’t ever wait outside a drive way. Let’s go with the example that you’re on your way to a friend’s house and you get dropped off, but no one is at home and you can’t get into the house.
1. Politely ask the driver who dropped you off if they would be able to wait with you until your friend arrives.
2. Phone your friend to see if they are acquainted with their neighbours and find out if you could wait at the neighbours house until your friend arrives. Ask the driver to wait with you until you have confirmed this with your friend and you are in the neighbour’s house safe and sound.
3. If the above 2 points are not an option, find out from the driver dropping you off if they would be able to take you to the nearest shopping centre/coffee shop and wait for your friend to fetch you from their.
*Blue Security does not advise mugging victims to run after muggers as this could lead to a life threatening situation.*
