Proactive vagrant minimises load shedding frustrations for Durban drivers.

With load shedding, yes the power going out at home effects us hugely, but do you want to know what else effects us when the electricity is out? The traffic lights. While some of us may find it rather difficult to keep ourselves entertained when there is load shedding, this man kept himself busy by guiding traffic in the central Durban area while the traffic lights were out.

Imagine. It’s mid morning, you check the news and find out that there’s going to be load shedding for the next few days. Your eyes roll and a wave of annoyance enters your brain.

You’re mind starts turning ‘have I charged the torches?’ and ‘ What is my phone battery life on?’

Maybe you’re hungry when you find out that the powers going out so then you start pondering ‘what are we going to do for dinner?’ Our minds enter a mode of trying to figure out what we need to sort out at home.

But, it is seldom that we think how the drive will be (while the electricity is out) to actually get home and even more seldom that we notice how helpful having traffic lights truly are.

Thanks to this proactive vagrant guiding Durban drivers around the central Durban area near Hunt and King Dinuzulu roads, many drivers were saved from having to deal with the multitude of hassles that come about while needing to execute an uncalled for four-way-stop during rush hour traffic.

While this proactive vagrant, as well as others, are making our travels easier when traffic lights are not working, it is important to keep in mind that it is each motorists responsibility to ensure we make it through the intersections safely without needing to rely on other civilians to guide individuals through the traffic.
