Armed Response

A Kingsburgh resident was brutally stabbed during an armed robbery in the early hours of this morning.
Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said a gang of three armed robbers had broken into the resident’s home in Dimple Lea Road in St Winifreds at 3.18am. “They smashed a bedroom window to gain entry and proceeded to brutally attack the resident, who they stabbed repeatedly in the back, shoulder and arm. The gang fled with laptops, a wallet, cash and a cellphone,” he said. “Paramedics attended the scene to attend to the victim who sustained at least six stab wounds.”
Amanzimtoti SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
Jackson advised residents to consider installing outdoor beams and an electric fence for an early warning system, to reduce the element of surprise that criminals rely on when committing house robberies.
“External beams and an electric fence connected to your home alarm system act as deterrents to criminals. Additionally they provide an early warning system that buys time in an emergency, enabling you to run and lock yourself in a safe room in the home. The room should be equipped with a spare panic remote and a cellphone so that you can call the police and your security company in an emergency,” he said.
“Ideally, you want to be forewarned that someone is on your property before they even get the chance to approach your house to break in.”
