7 Tips to help you master March madness

School holidays, a long weekend, travel plans and entertaining guests over Easter, all while ensuring your home remains safe and protected – are you ready? Here are 7 tips to help you master March madness.
1. Schedule all your appointments in advance to avoid a manic rush. In the blink of an eye it will be the Easter long weekend and you still needed to get your hair done, go for a manicure, book your car for a service and get your wheel alignment checked out. Make sure you make all these appointments in advance to avoid a stressful, last minute scurry.
2. Make sure your pets are cared for. Keep your fur-babies in mind if you’re planning the long weekend away. Ask someone to check in on them at least once a day, or book them into a loving kennel. If you’ve been putting off a vet visit, schedule that in with all your other appointments before you go away.
3. Arrange for a house sitter. Make sure you instruct them on the use of your alarm system, including how to arm and disarm your outdoor beams, how to check up on your CCTV footage, and where the panic buttons are located.
4. Get garden refuse and trash bags collected to avoid unwanted animals like snakes and monkeys from being attracted.
5. Secure sliding glass doors. You can do this by cutting a wooden pole or thick dowel to fit in the groove of the tracks when the door is shut, and lay it in before you leave. This won’t stop someone from shattering the glass, but it will make gaining entry a little harder and make your home a less desirable target.
6. Make sure your car is travel ready. Check if it’s due for a service, get your wheel alignment calibrated, make sure your spare tyre is in good condition, and stock your cubby hole with essentials such as a first aid kit and a flashlight.
7. School holidays are coming up, keep in mind that you need to make arrangements for after care or holiday club.
