Mayville security guard robbed after approached under false pretenses

Armed robbers held up a security guard at a business premises in Bernard Road in Mayville and fled with a computer and other valuables on Friday morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said four armed robbers had approached the security guard at around 7.05am and asked him what time the business was opening.
“When the guard walked towards the gate to speak to them, one of the men pulled out a firearm and robbed him of his cellphone and panic button. They forced him to lie on the floor at the back of the premises before breaking the lock on a security gate to gain entry into the building,” Mathios said. “The gang fled with a computer, cellphones and other valuables in a silver Ford Figo with a NUR registration plate. No injuries were reported.”
Mayville SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
