Three metal sheet thieves tracked down in Jacobs

Blue Security armed response officers’ swift action led to the arrest of three alleged metal sheet thieves in Jacobs at the weekend.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said security officers, who were working at a business premises in Lerwick Road, had alerted the security company to a theft that had taken place on the property on Saturday at around 6.20pm.
“Two of our armed response officers responded to the scene and found three suspects on the corner of Lansdowne Road and Collingwood Road where they were in the process of folding the metal sheets that they had stolen from the premises. The officers arrested the suspects, recovered the metal sheets, and handed them over to Wentworth SAPS,” Mathios said.
Mathios said in a separate incident, an armed response officer had warded off a gang of around eight suspects, who had attempted to steal boxes from a truck trailer parked outside a business premises where it was being loaded in Sydney Road yesterday. “The suspects noticed the armed response officer and walked towards him in a bid to threaten him, but he managed to fend them off and they fled the scene without taking anything,” Mathios said.
