Armed Response

My best guess is that you are on this page to discover more about the how’s, why’s, whereabouts and who’s of the Morningside COPS Blue Zone. More importantly, you probably want to explore the benefits of being a part of this project. Rest assured, you have reached your information destination!
Have you been a part of the project since day one or are you a new member of the team? Either way, this page will provide you with a rundown of how and why the Morningside COPS Blue Zone came into existence. It will also inform you of the benefits that members have access to.
In 2013, the Morningside community experienced an influx of hijackings, theft, and other criminal activity. People had previously made an effort to secure their homes with an individual approach to security, however, there were weak points around the perimeter of the area.
Consequently, frustrated residents set out to develop a proactive model to make their community a safer place to live in. A model that united the community members, with customized solutions to the issues that were specific to the Morningside area.
Morningside COPS residents partnered with Blue Security as they had the infrastructure to meet the individual needs of the community. Residents have since enjoyed a significant reduction in crime in and around the area, with Eye-in-The-Sky Cameras and a dedicated armed response vehicle patrolling and servicing the active members 24 hours a day.
The alert Morningside committee is always at the forefront of proactive, visible policing in the form of the dedicated vehicle. Project meetings are held with Blue Security and the committee to address concerns in the area at regular intervals.
These meetings are vital to the success of the project as they maintain a level of agility, which is the key to ensuring that we can adapt patrolling and surveillance strategies to ever-changing crime trends.
The dedicated patrol vehicle never leaves the allocated footprint and receives alarm signals directly, ensuring that the officer can respond much faster. The vehicle is fitted with a mobile phone that receives signals that are sent through to the control room, directly. This also means that the officer can react immediately.
Area of patrol includes Trematon Drive, Venice Road, Hollander Crescent, Burman Road, Farrell Road, Goodricke Road, Montcalm Road, Mentone Road, Smiso Nkwanyana Road.
Members can see the safety benefits of having a dedicated vehicle and CPO patrolling their specified footprint and encourage the residents of Morningside to join the project to increase their security.
All Blue Zone members should be aware of the benefits that they have access to and make sure that they use these features as effectively as possible, to create a safer neighborhood.
Wouldn’t you feel safer having these benefits? Think about the worry and angst that would be lifted off your shoulders knowing that there are eyes in the sky and feet on the street looking out for you.
There is no doubt that Morningside residents can see the endless value in being a part of the project and reap the rewards of the dedicated security resources in the area looking community members all day, every day.
