Morningside suspect’s flowerbed camouflage fails to fool reaction officer

Morningside suspect arrestedA vigilant Blue Security armed response officer arrested a Morningside suspect and recovered stolen goods in the early hours of this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the officer was patrolling the neighbourhood along Venice Road when he spotted two suspects loitering outside a property in Venice Road at around 3.30am.
“When the officer turned his vehicle to stop and investigate, one of the suspects fled on foot and the second suspect attempted to hide along a flower bed. The officer approached the suspect and discovered that he was in possession of a stash of stolen goods including a flat screen television, a pair of takkies, a computer screen and clothing,” Mathios said.
“The officer arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Berea SAPS at the scene,” Mathios said.
Mathios commended the officer for his swift action which led to the arrest. “We believe that visible policing is a vital weapon in both crime prevention in our neighbourhoods and in bringing criminals to book. We hope this latest arrest will once again send out the strong message that crime will not be tolerated in our neighbourhoods,” he said.
Blue Security reaction officers also arrested a housebreaker in Escombe before he could flee the scene, and a Chatsworth thief and trespasser this week.
