Armed Response

Blue Security is strengthening its partnership with Moseley NW residents to boost the fight against crime in the community, with the launch of a second dedicated patrol vehicle early this year. Blue Security Special Projects Manager, Stephen Wimborne, said the security firm had decided to introduce the dedicated vehicle into the neighbourhood as part of its strategy to grow its relationship with the community and to enhance its proactive policing strategy in the area.
The launch of the second dedicated vehicle into the footprint will see the community being effectively covered as a ‘Blue Zone’. “The deployment of an additional crime-fighting resource into this community signifies a further strengthening of our close partnership with residents, as well as the Mosely Neighbourhood Watch,” Wimborne said. He also mentioned that the strategy of operating a dedicated vehicle in a neighbourhood proves successful in the fight against crime time and time again. “Our research has shown that the implementation of a dedicated patrol vehicle as part of our preventative policing strategy, directly impacts on the crime levels in a community. The 24/7 presence of dedicated patrol vehicles and armed response officers result in even faster reaction times, as the vehicles do not exit the demarcated ‘Blue Zone’ footprint of the community they’re serving.”
Strengthening proactive policing on the ground flushes out opportunistic criminals while making it more difficult for organised criminals to operate undetected. “Working closely with residents and the police, we have secured a higher rate of arrests in neighbourhoods patrolled by dedicated vehicles. We have also noted many successes in terms of the arrests of known and wanted suspects who previously managed to target multiple homes in a neighbourhood,” Wimborne said.
He added that Moseley had recently been hit by several home invasions, the latest of which resulted in the tragic death of a resident. “We are committed to working closely with the local neighbourhood watch team and the police to proactively secure the community. We look forward to a long partnership with the residents of Moseley as we work together to ramp up the fight against crime in the neighbourhood,” he said.
Wimborne urged all residents to get involved in the fight against crime and do not hesitate to report any suspicious activity within the neighbourhood.
Moseley Neighbourhood Watch chairman Corne Momberg said the vehicle would further enhance visible policing in the area. “This vehicle comes at a perfect time with the recent spike in home invasions. This vehicle will increase the visibility in the area and will send a clear message to criminals that crime will not be tolerated in the Moseley area. With two dedicated vehicles, Blue “Eye-in-the-Sky” cameras and Automated Number Plate Recognition Cameras (ANPR) we have holistic layers of security in the area,” Momberg said.
Momberg encouraged residents to join the local neighbourhood watch group and the Blue Zone project.
“There is strength in numbers in the fight against crime so we encourage residents to sign up to support us as we work to make the neighbourhood a safer place to work and live,” Momberg said.
