Motorist hijacked outside friend’s home in Umhlatuzana

A motorist was lucky to escape a hijacking uninjured when armed men forced him out of his vehicle in Umhlatuzana last night.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the motorist had arrived to visit a friend in 34th Avenue at around 7.35pm when the hijacking occurred. “The motorist had just arrived and was in the process of parking his vehicle when two men armed with firearms, jumped out of a VW Polo and forced him to get out of his vehicle. The suspects fled in his vehicle. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
Bayview SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
Mathios said a suspect, armed with a knife, held up a staff member at a property in Meadow Road in Overport on Saturday. The incident occurred at around 5.45pm. “The suspect jumped over the fence and held up the staff member at knife point and stole his work clothing and bag. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
Mathios added that in Glenwood two suspects assaulted a security guard on a premises in Moore Road at around 12.15am on Saturday. “Provincial paramedics arrived and treated the security guard for his injuries at the scene of the crime,” Mathios said.
