Motorist fatally wounded during Glenwood shooting

A gunman shot and killed a motorist and seriously injured a woman in a hail of bullets during a Glenwood shooting last night.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the circumstances surrounding the Glenwood shooting, which took place in Glenwood Drive at around 6.45pm, remain unclear at this stage. “The man was allegedly sitting behind the driver’s wheel inside his vehicle, which was parked outside a property in Glenwood Drive. He was chatting to the woman who was allegedly also sitting next to him inside the vehicle.”
“A suspect allegedly approached the vehicle and opened fire on the man sitting in the vehicle, fatally wounding him,” Mathios said. “The woman jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the property screaming for help but the suspect then opened fire in her direction, critically wounding her. Netcare 911 paramedics attended the scene of the crime and transported the injured woman to hospital in a critical but stable condition.”
“Paramedics declared the driver of the vehicle dead at the scene. Circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear at this stage. Police are investigating the case,” Mathios said.
Mathios said at least six shots were fired during the incident. Mayville Police attended the scene of the crime.
In a separate incident three armed suspects robbed a resident of his vehicle in McLarty Road in Reservoir Hills at around 8pm last night. “The armed suspects entered the resident’s property where he was busy working near the garage. They held him up at gunpoint and fled in his vehicle. No injuries were reported. The SAPS later recovered the vehicle in Clermont,” Mathios said.
Mathios added that armed robbers held up staff of a business premises in Umgeni Road at around 6.15am this morning. “The suspects held up staff at gunpoint and robbed them of cash and other valuables. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
Members of Durban Central SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
