Armed Response

Strong team work between Blue Security armed response officers, community members and the police lead to multiple weekend arrests of several suspects at the weekend.
Blue security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said an armed response officer responded to the scene of a business burglary in Nipper Road in New Germany at around 2:20 PM yesterday where he arrested a suspect.
“A trespasser had been spotted on the premises after he gained entry through a broken concrete palisade fence which had been temporarily repaired, tied together with wire. The suspect then broke into the factory and proceeded to steal aluminium strips and copper cables,” Mathios said.
“Our armed response officer searched the premises and found the suspect on the property. He arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Pinetown police at the scene of the crime,” Mathios said.
Mathios said community members and an armed response officer had separately arrested two armed robbers who had robbed a woman of her cellphone in broad daylight in Clare Estate on Friday at around 10.45am.
“The two armed robbers held up the woman at knife point on the Clare road bridge and robbed her of her cellphone. They fled on foot along the N2 freeway into Elf Place. The woman and a few community members chased the suspects into Elf Place where they arrested one of the suspects,” Mathios said.
“The second suspect broke the window of a resident’s prayer room and climbed inside and hid behind the door. The resident activated her panic alarm and a Blue Security armed response officer responded to the scene. He arrested the suspect and handed him over to the Sydenham police at the scene,” Mathios said.
In a third incident Mathios said an alert store supervisor spotted a shoplifter stealing peanuts from a shop in an Umhlanga shopping centre on Saturday at around 5:15 PM.
“She noticed the shoplifter putting 52 packets of peanuts into a plastic packet that he had walked into the shop with. She alerted a shopping centre security guard who attended the scene and arrested the shoplifter,” Mathios said.
